The Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority has started formal design of its deep water intake on Lake Travis in and around the Village of Volente.
Residents will begin to see activity related to the design work in March 2019, as crews begin to take soil borings. A floating platform with a drilling rig will be on the water, taking core samples from two locations (see map). Crews are expected to take 30 days to complete the work.
The intake will include lake taps that connect the lake above to a tunnel that is well below the lake bottom.
The design process is expected to take approximately two-and-a-half years to complete. Construction would likely begin in 2021.
